Creation and Purpose: The Colville Tribal Education Assistance Program(CTEAP) was created by resolution #1977-358 of the Tribal Council for the purpose of assisting enrolled members of the Colville tribes who wish to pursue further education in institutions of higher learning, business and commercial schools, vocational / technical institutions, and technological schools. The Education Assistance Program is intended to assist students enrolled either on campus or enrolled in extension courses, as well as regionally and/or nationally accredited institutions. Graduate and Senior level students are considered priority funding.

Who Can Apply?

Any enrolled member of the Colville Confederated Tribes with a minimum 3.0 grade point average in the past three terms of high school or college can apply for the scholarship.

How Are Recipients Chosen?

We are looking for a well rounded student leader with strong involvement in school and community activities with above average grades. The applicant should have a desire to have a positive future impact in the Colville tribe.

An education committee made up of representatives of the four reservation districts, Inchelium, Keller, Omak, and Nespelem, a teacher/education guidance counselor, and a student representative will select qualified candidates.

How Do You Apply?

Submit the following:

  • Cecelia Somday Education Fund application Scholarship Application (PDF)
  • Two completed Cecelia Somday Education Fund Recommendation Forms
  • One-page essay (200 word maximum)
  • Current high school or college transcript. Note: The Education staff is not responsible for attaching transcripts for current students.
Yearly applications are required. The deadline date is April 1st. For quesitons, contact the Higher Education Office at 509-634-2779.
